Setting up Inter-Planetary warfare in BRE involves a VERY simple process.
NOTE: It seems we THOUGHT it required a netmail system... We were proved
wrong by various non-netmail systems that SOMEHOW got the thing working
although we currently had NO IDEA how. :(
The first thing you must do is choose whether you wish to be a member of a
league or a Coordinator of a league.
All:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daily Maintainence: run BRE PLANETARY
- This can be run multiple times during the day to speed up processing
of inbound and outbound mail.
Look at IPDATA.SAM if you want to Route Mail, set mail on CRASH priority,
or set mail on HOLD priority
If you'd like Inter-Planetary Scores Bulletins created, then run
BRSCORES.EXE (probably in daily maint? Or after each play)
- See WHATS.NEW in v0.0700 for details on files created
If you are joining a league:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Set up a PLANDATA.BBS file (See PLANDATA.SAM for format) and be sure to
get your league number from your league coordinator.
This can now be done easily by using "BRE IPSETUP".
Give your BBS Information [BBS Name, Fido Address, City, State, Country]
to the League Coordinator.
Get a copy of the BRNODES.DAT [Nodelist] from the Coordinator.
- Theoretically, you should automatically recieve one, but you may want
to be safe and get it yourself. [Plus, it may be faster]
If you are becoming a Coordinator:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Select a League number (1-999) and create your PLANDATA.BBS - See
PLANDATA.SAM for format. Do not worry about if another game is going
on with the same league number. The only importance of the League
Numbers is if one BBS is participating in multiple leagues - the
league numbers of those leagues MUST be different.
This can now be done easily by using "BRE IPSETUP".
Read NODEFORM.INF to see the format of the nodelist. BRNODES.DAT should
be maintained by you and you *MUST BE* BBS #1 in the League. When others
join the league, you should add them to the nodelist, and give the new BBS
a copy of it. BRE will automatically send updated nodelists to all other
nodes [and the new one, but it may take a while].
Also: Coordinators, please notify the Solar Realm (1:106/900, 713-855-1665)
of the existance of your league so we can keep track of how many leagues
there are. Also, if you would like BBS's to join, we can advertise your
league.
Also #2: Coordinators, you may wish to consider getting BBS's from Long
Distance areas to join the league rather than a bunch of local systems.
Although this has the disadvantages of LD Costs (Small), it allows you
to play against a variety of players rather than having the same gamers
on the other BBS's!
Also #3: Due to the fact that your system will produce a piece of mail for
each BBS in your league every time the BRNODES.DAT is updated, you may wish
to consider asking some systems to poll you daily and you put your mail on
HOLD status. (See IPDATA.SAM)
Also #4: Enjoy the game! It requires very little maintainence, and we
tried to make it as user friendly as possible! If you have any problems,
notify the Mehul Patel at The Solar Realm (1:106/900 / 713-855-1665) and
I'll try to reply ASAP.
